In a moment that can only be described as an incredible stroke of bad luck, an errant ball struck the head New York Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery during batting practice on Saturday.

Well, we can all be thankful for that. A ball to the head off an MLB bat can lead to a very serious injury.

No word on whether Montgomery will be able to make his scheduled Sunday start against the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery, a rookie, has a 4.05 ERA and 1.236 WHIP in 21 appearances with the Yankees in 2017.
