The New Orleans Pelicans are definitely making a push to upgrade their backcourt this offseason. After signing former NBA champion Rajon Rondo and re-signing Jrue Holiday earlier the summer, the Pelicans are reportedly bringing in Tony Allen.

Allen, 35, is a three-time All-NBA First Team Defense performer and will bring a tremendous amount of toughness to New Orleans’ perimeter defense this upcoming season.

The veteran has played each of the past seven seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, helping anchor one of the Association’s best defenses during that span. This past season saw him average 9.1 points and be named to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team for the third time.

He should help with the likes of DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis holding down the fort inside for a Pelicans team looking to earn a postseason trip after a two-year hiatus.
